Student-Led Discovery: Green Crabs and Oil Paint on Allen Island

Join us for a special Island Campus Lecture Series event featuring 2026 Island Campus Student Fellows Lucia “Lulu” Greene ‘27 and Charlotte Clark ‘28, who will share insights from their summer research on Allen and Benner islands.

Greene, taking inspiration from the Maine landscape, island living, and Andrew Wyeth’s former summer residence, worked on her senior capstone in oil painting. Her studio, set up in the attic of the barn, provided the perfect space to hone her craft.

Clark continued the long history of intertidal research by conducting an invasive crab survey on two of the beaches. Sorting through seaweed, she documented green crabs, Asian shore crabs, and Jonah crabs.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear directly from the students shaping the future of Colby’s Island Campus.
